Guitar Class

West
Bridgewater Middle-High School

Guitar Class
Syllabus

Mr. LeMarier –
Band Room

Rational:  Because students
need to take fine arts courses for graduation, it is important to have as wide a
variety of choices as possible.  Students requested this guitar course to be
offered.  The guitar is one of the most popular instruments for students and in
the world.

GRADING

During the quarter, there
will be homework assignments, classroom assignments, quizzes, a research paper,
and a final test at the end of the semester.

                Class
Preparation (being on time and prepared) = 15%

                You must be
on time with all the materials you need for class (INCLUDING YOUR GUITAR!)

Homework/Class Assignments = 20%

Your homework in this class is mostly practicing and learning the skills that I
assigned in the previous class.  I will come around and ask you to play certain
things from your homework assignment and evaluate your degree of learning.

Quizzes  = 30%

Quizzes will be based on content that we cover in class.  They will always be
announced.

                Final Test =
35%

The
final test will cover all content covered in class.  The research paper will be
part of the final test. The test itself will be given at the end of the
semester.

POLICIES

- You will have to make
arrangements with the teacher if you miss a quiz or test to make it up.  Quizzes
or tests must be made up within 2 classes from absence or as arranged with the
teacher.

- Make sure you have
someone you can get notes from if you are absent.

- It is YOUR
responsibility to see me if you need to know what you missed (after class or
during in-class work time only so instruction is not interrupted). If you don’t
see me, you are still responsible and will be graded as such.

DETENTION POLICY:

If you are found to be disrupting class in any manner,
your name will go on the board as a warning.  If you are disrupting the class
again in any manner after your name has been put on the board, a check will go
next to your name and you will need to see the teacher the same day after class
to arrange a detention date. If you do not see the teacher to arrange a
detention date, you will be written up for failure to report to detention.
