Band Grading Policy
Students can earn up to 10 points per each class and band rehearsal. The breakdown of points is as follows:
2 Points = Bringing Your Instrument
2 points for bringing your entire instrument
1 point if you forget part of your instrument
0 points for not bringing your instrument
2 Points = Materials
2 points for bringing both book and folder
1 point for bringing only book or folder
0 points for bringing neither
3 Points = Participation
3 points if you are doing your best work and trying hard
2 points if you could be trying harder or behavior is a problem
1 piont if you could be trying harder and behavior is a problem
3 Points = Performance
3 points if you consistently perform well and are prepared (along with 90 minutes of practice on your practice log)
2 points if you sometimes perform well and are prepared (along with 60 minutes of practice on your practice log)
1 point if you rarely perform well and are not prepared (no practice log)
Note: There are ½ points for students who I feel deserve them to make their grade accurate (partial credit for less than 60 minutes of practice in a week on a practice log)

(PLEASE NOTE THAT MID-YEAR PROGRESS REPORTS WILL GO HOME HALF WAY THROUGH THE SCHOOL YEAR FOR STUDENTS WHO DO NOT MEET BAND EXPECTATIONS SO PARENTS CAN BE INFORMED)
